We have just received news that we have been awarded a Good Hotel Award 2020/2021.

I am super proud of our fantastic team here in the pub who have worked tirelessly to provide the best service we possibly can despite all of the Covid-19 restrictions imposed on us.

I would also like to thank all of you fantastic people who took the time to vote for us as a result of this post. Some of the comments you wrote are now visible as reviews on the Good Hotel web page and some of them reduced me to tears, in a good way of course…

I am so lucky to be surrounded by such great staff and in receipt of such amazing local support.

Thank you all so very much

Dear Guests,

The safety and well being of our guests and staff is our highest priority. We know that some of you will have some concerns and worries about travelling and staying in Cornwall at this time.

We want to reassure you that we are open for business and our beautiful part of West Cornwall awaits you.

Even so, we are increasing our health initiatives to help keep you as safe as possible.

These include:
  • Cleaning of all areas of our hotel / Bar and public areas paying attention to door handles, bathrooms each morning night and during the day. Restaurant tables will be wiped down before and after each time they are used.
  • We have antibacterial soap in our public toilets and staff areas and our staff are using anti-bacterial sprays for tables, surfaces and door handles.
  • Daily checks are being carried out on the health of our staff and NHS advice is being followed.
  • Deep cleaning of all bedrooms including all bedding is being professionally cleaned between stays.
  • Our kitchen staff continue to maintain high standards of safety and hygiene.

We are fully stocked with all relevant cleaning and disinfection products along with all hotel essential supplies. We have also removed all breakfast buffets – now we serve individual meals straight from our kitchen instead.

We remain vigilant and you can be confident that as the situation develops that every piece of official advice received will be acted on in a timely manner.

Although these are stressful times, Cornwall remains beautiful and peaceful. The Autumn and Wintertime is perfect for coastal walks, watching the crashing waves and birdwatching.

Thank you

Michelle and The Team

100% Cornwall’s Beaches Make the Grade Against Tough Water Quality Standards

Malcolm Bell, Chairman of the BeachWise Forum for the South West and Chief Executive of Visit Cornwall, welcomed the results.

He said: “It’s fantastic to see all Cornwall’s beaches pass these tougher tests with flying colours for the second consecutive year, despite the wetter weather this summer, with Devon not far behind.

“Bathing waters are much cleaner and have continually improved since 1990 when just 27% met European water quality standards. This is thanks to massive efforts by Defra, the Environment Agency, water companies, councils, local communities, farmers and environmental organisations.

“This year is only the third time that the results have been reported against the new standards, and the second consecutive year that 100% of Cornwall’s beaches have made the grade.”

The new regulations classify bathing waters as excellent, good, sufficient or poor, based on the level of bacteria in the water as monitored by the Environment Agency between May and September. Up to four years of results from 2014 to 2017 are combined to indicate water cleanliness.
